8 business apps that work offline

Table of Contents

Smartphones have become an essential business tool. These days, entrepreneurs use them for everything such as communicating with stakeholders, supervising tasks and employees and connecting with clients. But, connectivity issues can strike when you least expect them, making you losing time and productivity. Luckily, there are several business apps you can use on your mobile without being online or using your cellphone data. These eight offline apps can help you stay productive even when you’re cut off from the web.

Salesforce

Salesforce is one of the eight business apps that work offline. It is a web-based CRM tool that despite being created for online use, offers robust support whilst offline. All you need to do is ensure the admins have enabled caching. However, it has some limitations. For instance, when you are offline, you won’t be able to create new contacts or tasks or to see images attached to notes and you won’t have access to Salesforce Communities.

OfficeTime

OfficeTime is one of the best business apps for anyone who needs to track billable hours. It’s well known among freelancers and small business owners because it allows recording both expenses and hours and automatically prepare invoices for you to send to clients.

This business app is fully-functional when you’re offline. You will still be able to automatically log your time and manage ongoing projects. Any changes will sync with the OfficeTime servers as soon when you regain internet access.

Google Drive

Google Drive is a massive cloud storage service that offers 15 GB of free space across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. It also includes Google Docs, Sheets and Slides, where you can edit spreadsheets, forms, presentations, documents, etc. and save them in the cloud.

It allows you to make files available for offline viewing, while Docs, Sheets, and Slides will all let you create new documents when you don’t have a connection. To do that you need to make them available for offline viewing, which will require an internet connection initially. Also, you will need to use Google Chrome to access this feature.

Trello

Trello is an amazing app for project management and organizing your tasks. Since early-2017, Trello has offered offline support for its mobile apps. Now, you can open boards, create new cards, edit existing tasks, delegate tasks to team members and add descriptions, dates, labels, and other metadata. The app will save all your changes locally and upload them to the web when you are back online.

LastPass

Password managers are an essential part of keeping yourself secure on the web. They allow you to make more complex passwords without the concern of having to remember them every time you log into a service.
An essential feature of any password manager is offline access. You don’t want to be locked out of one of your accounts just because you can’t get connectivity. All you need to do is select the “login offline option” on the login page and you will be able to check your stored data.

Evernote

Evernote is one of the two leading note-taking apps available today. As you’d expect, you can access your Evernote content when you’re offline. However, if you’re using this business app on a mobile device, only note titles, tags, and a small excerpt of text will be available by default.

Pocket

Pocket is a great app to save web content to read later. This business app is a better solution than your browser’s bookmark because it will make the articles you save available offline. Pocket is a great way to load up on content if you know you’re not going to have a connection.

DataScope

DataScope is a business app designed to create different types of forms, application forms, inspection forms, reports and even receipts in digital format that can be validated with the signature of the person who fills in the data.

This mobile app can also work offline. Users can fill out and submit forms when their device does not have a network connection without losing any data. Submitted forms can be sent in by synchronising it once a network connection is available. However, the device does still need to be sync periodically, especially in order for submitted forms to be sent to the server. Otherwise, submitted forms will be stored locally (only on the device) in the app’s Pending tab.
